482 & 186 Visa Salary Requirements Increase (From 1 July 2026)
The Australian Government has increased the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) from $76,515 to $79,499, effective 1 July 2026.
This change impacts employer-sponsored visas, including the Subclass 482 visa and Subclass 186 visa, with updated salary requirements applying to all new applications.
Salary thresholds are automatically indexed each year under regulation 5.42A using Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE) data.
New Salary Thresholds for 2026–27
- Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): $79,499 (previously $76,515)
- Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT): $146,717 (previously $141,210)
What This Means for Employers & Visa Applicants
From 1 July 2026, all applications must meet the updated 482 visa salary requirements and 186 visa income thresholds at the time of lodgement.
Employers must ensure that nominated positions:
- Meet or exceed the applicable CSIT or SSIT thresholds, and
- Are consistent with the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR)
Failure to meet these requirements may result in visa refusal.
